It's a way of life

Hi, I’m Sally-ann Winter — founder of Wongo Creek.
Born and raised in the heart of country New South Wales, I’ve always loved the land, the lifestyle, and everything that comes with rural living. Not long ago, I was living on a property in Wongo Creek, just outside of Manilla, not far from Tamworth — the country music capital of Australia. Each morning, before the sun had even touched the paddocks, I’d sit on the veranda with a coffee in hand, watching the dogs run and the Black Angus cattle graze through the morning mist. That peaceful, rugged beauty sparked something in me — an idea for a rural clothing brand that truly felt Australian.
That’s how Wongo Creek was born.
I started sketching clothing, boots, and accessories that would suit country living — tough enough for work, but with style and purpose. I reached out to Australian manufacturers, but as a startup, the large order requirements were out of reach. So, for now, I’ve partnered with offshore makers — carefully chosen — while I build the brand and work toward bringing it all home to support Australian jobs and communities. With enough Aussie support, we’ll get there.
Every product I offer is thoughtfully designed with rural life in mind — built to handle early mornings fixing fences and scorching afternoons fixing troughs and chasing cattle. Our boots are made from genuine leather, and our wallets and handbags are handcrafted with care and detail. Stock is limited, but ideas are endless. I have so many ideas!
I was told I wasn't capable of doing this — but I’ve done it all. On my own. From designing and sourcing, to building this website and trademarking the brand. I'm a single mother of three grown kids, a proud grandmother, and — it turns out — a pretty strong, determined woman.
Wongo Creek isn’t just a brand. It’s my story, and it’s for every Australian who loves this land as much as I do.
